ML Maze v3.0 details
This page lists ML Maze v3.0 updates in more detail, and compatibility issues with old and new level sets and score files.
Throughout this page, old level files mean level files made with ML Maze v2.2 or lower, and new level files mean level files made with ML Maze v3.0 or higher.
- Level files now hold up to 255 levels, instead of 1.
- Score files for the "new" style of level sets have a different format.
- In game mode in version 3.0, both old and new level files can be played just fine. The old format of score files will only work with old level files, and the new score format will work only on new level files.
- In editor mode in version 3.0, both old and new level files will open just fine, but if you save an old file, it will save it in the new format.
- New level files cannot be played or opened in the editor in versions of ML Maze v2.2 or lower.
- To convert your score files from the old format to the new format, use the following example:
- Say Bob T. had 4 levels called BobT1.mlm, BobT2.mlm, etc., with score files BobT1.mlm.ini, etc., and then he combines them into one file called BobT1.mlm.
- Rename BobT1.mlm.ini to BobT1.ini.
- Open up BobT1.ini, and delete all lines except the first one. For the first line, keep the score, but remove the quotes that surround the score.
- For each level in the set after the first one, create a new line, and type your score for each level.
- To convert your old level files into one new level file, go into the Level Editor and press Ctrl+C or select Convert Old Level Files to New Level Set from the Editor menu. Then you can select the old levels you want to convert, and select the new location you want to save your level set to.
- You can record and play back solutions with ML Maze v3.0 and higher. To do this, select Record Solution from the Game menu or press F11. When you win the level or exit the Game window, recording will stop. It only records the steps you take, so you can take as much time as you want between moves - during playback of the solution, the pauses won't be there. The solution will be saved to solution.txt, in the folder you have ML Maze in. Warning - if you want to keep your solution, you'll want to rename it to something else when you finish the level, otherwise you'll erase it the next time you record a solution!
- To play back previously recorded solutions, go to the level the solution is for, press Ctrl+V or select View Previously Recorded Solution from the Game menu, find the solution you want to view, and type how many steps per second you would like to view the solution (anywhere from 1 to 10).
