How to use Block Dude
- How to play Block Dude levels
- Download levels from the levels page and save them to the folder you have Block Dude in.
- Open Block Dude.
- Select the level set you want to play.
- Click Play (or double click on the level set) and type your username. If you don't have one yet, then type what you want your username to be.
- Play!
- To go to another level, select Go To from the menu and type a password. To restart the level, select Restart from the menu. To see your high scores, select High Scores from the menu.
- Instructions on how to play
- Here's the original help from Brandon Sterner: "In this game you must get to the door at the end of each level by picking up blocks, moving them, & climbing on them. Push the down arrow to lift/drop blocks and the up arrow to climb on blocks."
- Also, use the left and right arrow keys to move left and right.
- How to make Block Dude levels
- Open Block Dude.
- Click Make your own Block Dude levels.
- Click on the tile you want to place, then click it on the level map.
- To go to another level, type the level number in the level number text box and press Enter.
- A level set can have up to 255 levels. The default is 50. To change how many levels there are in your set, change the number in the "total number of levels" text box, and press Enter.
- Be careful! If you change the number of levels to a lower number, levels you had higher than that number could be erased!
- Tiles
There are six tiles that come with Block Dude. They are:
Dude facing left. This is the player that you move around.
Dude facing right.
Block. You can move these around to step up on them.
Wall. Can't be moved, but can be stepped on.
Door. This is where you win the level.
Empty space. You and blocks can go on these spaces.
Bugs and Limitations
- If the layout is like the scene below and Block Dude goes to the right, he will pick up the block (which probably shouldn't happen). Since none of the first 9 original Block Dude levels have "floating blocks", I will probably not fix this.
